Brion Solenergi installs 14MW with Wave

Sweden’s largest solar roof is lifted into place by helicopter

DSV‘s recently expanded logistics center outside Landskrona is not only Sweden’s largest warehouse but is also Sweden’s largest rooftop solar system. With 100,000 square meters of solar panels and an output of 14 MW, DSV’s logistics center will be completely self-sufficient in electricity. Brion Solenergi has installed the PV project in a record time of a little less than 10 months thanks to the support of PanelClaw and its innovative installation system, Wave.

Outside the Danish transport and logistics company DSV’s newly built mega warehouse in Landskrona, there is a flurry of activity. Behind the barriers, a helicopter shuttles between the loading area and various positions on the large warehouse roof. Every 30 to 40 seconds it lifts up a new pallet filled with solar panels and mounting material from PanelClaw (CPX named back then) which is unloaded inside the roof.

“We had two helicopter pilots who flew in shifts from six in the morning to eight in the evening. There were around 2200 flights in ten days. A pretty impressive operation”, says Olle Blandin, CEO at Brion Solenergi.

“We used a helicopter instead of a crane to be able to quickly get far into the roof and unload. The width of the buildings is over 200 meters and if we had guys on site to go and pull all these 2000 pallets it would take much longer, probably at least two months compared to the week or so it takes now. So helicopter was much more cost effective.”

DSV and construction company TAB (Tommy Allström Byggproduktion) commissioned Brion Solenergi to develop the solar project on the new property. Brion Solenergi partnered with PanelClaw, specialists in mounting systems for largescale C&I rooftop solar projects.

“The fact that PanelClaw had the opportunity to work closely with Brion Solenergi in such a prestigious project feels very good. Our wave mounting system has been specially developed for large-scale projects: the pre-assembled system can be installed extremely quickly and almost error-free, which here means big cost savings, says Pejman Eidisson”, Sales Manager Nordics at PanelClaw.

“We tested their mounting system extensively before the procurement and let both customers and installers have their say. And everyone was very enthusiastic. Brion and PanelClaw turned out to be a perfect match, the mounting system is hard to beat and our corporate mindset is similar in our focus on quality and close dialogue. And it’s nice to be able to speak Swedish in a close collaboration like this”, says Olle Blandin.
